Kiwanians addressed,

Please see the below update on 1976-1977 Past Governor Edward A. Novak, Jr.

I’m sure he would love to receive any notes or cards.

(His birthday is August 20 and he’ll be turning 88 this year!)

He joined Kiwanis back in 1964. He’s been a member of the Arlington, VA club since 1997.

Subject: UPDATE: Ed Novak, Jr.

Dear Friends and Family of Ed Novak, Jr.:

Some of you who know Ed Novak Jr. as family member, friend, neighbor, colleague, Kiwanian, and/or Navy veteran may already have received this information. However, with this message, I am expanding the network of people receiving information about changes in my dad’s life.

Shortly before Thanksgiving, my dad suffered a stroke while at home alone in northern Virginia. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was stabilized and began a course of rehabilitation. He subsequently was transferred to a nearby acute rehab facility, then a sub-acute rehab facility in Maryland near where my wife Amy and I live. At each step, he made progress, regaining physical and speech functioning.

Most recently, he has moved to an assisted-living facility in suburban Washington, DC. He is living at Arbor Terrace, 9885 Greenbelt Road, Room 100, Lanham MD 20706.

At Arbor Terrace, the emphasis is on making sure my dad lives the life he wants under his new circumstances. He will continue with physical, occupational, and speech therapy. As long as my dad likes it, and it meets my expectations, Arbor Terrace will be his long-term residence.

My dad does not yet have a phone, but I hold out hope that he will get one in his room once he is more comfortable with his new home. In the meantime, he enjoys getting cards and letters!

Please let me know if you can help expand this network with updated and new contact information for others whose lives have been touched by my dad’s work and friendship.

Best wishes,

Ed III
