1994-1995 Lt. Governors (bcc’d) and Kiwanis Leaders addressed,
It is with sadness that we communicate that Dr. David C. Wright, 1992-93 Grantville-Allied Gardens Club President
and 1994-95 Lt. Governor of Division 21, passed away on August 10, 2018 at Providence Hospital in Everett, Washington. Dave was 93 years old and legally blind at the time of his death.
In 1998, when he moved to his final home on Whidbey Island in Washington, he joined the South Whidbey Kiwanis Club along with his loving wife, Ann.
Dave was a retired teacher and elementary school principal. He is survived by seven grandchildren and 5 children. He was a Navy World War II veteran.
Information as reported from the Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Gardens newsletter:
“Dave and Ann were the original "power couple" in our Kiwanis Club! Ann Stombs (later Ann Wright) was the first female member of our club when she joined in 1987, and she became the first
female President in our club's history in 1995-96. Dave and Ann, known collectively as "The Wright Brothers," met in G.A.G. Kiwanis and were married shortly thereafter! (And were married for 29 years!) The two of them helped to integrate our club at
a time when women were reluctantly welcomed into Kiwanis.
Dave is also remembered for his sense of humor. As Club President, he once conducted an entire meeting dressed from head to toe as a ninja! He would also fill in as our "Santa Claus"
whenever needed around the holidays.”
Services were held in Washington state and Dave has been laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Cards of condolence may be sent to Ann at 8291 Sunset Hills Drive, Clinton, WA 98236 or via email to
xxxxxx@whidbey.com.
Please keep Ann and the rest of Dave’s family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
