Kiwanis Leaders addressed,

It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of 1992-1993 Governor Bob Gibbons. Please read the following written by his daughter Lynn Seeden:

Past Gov. Robert L. "Bob" Gibbons passed away peacefully at home just after midnight on Dec. 23.  He was surrounded by family.

A public viewing is scheduled for 3:30-5 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 29 at Heritage Memorial Services, 17712 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach.
A memorial service is also being planned, and we'll announce the date and location as soon as we have that.

Bob was 94 years young.  He was a great man of faith, loved his family, and gave so much of himself to help underprivileged children and mentor youth both through church and through Kiwanis.

Bob first joined the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Bakersfield in August 1960, later moving to the Bellflower Club.  He served as lieutenant governor for Lucky Division 13 in 1986-87, and Cal-Nev-Ha District Governor in 1992-93.

He moved to the Huntington Beach club in 1993 and has remained a member there since.  He also has been a dual member of the Fountain Valley club, Surf City club, and the Cerritos club.

Bob and First Lady Nancy served as General Host Chairman for the 1991 Kiwanis International Convention (Anaheim, CA).  Bob served as District Club Building Chair; Lieutenant Governor certified trainer; District SLP Chair; and held every club-level position over the years.  He also helped write club-management materials for Kiwanis International years ago.  He gave seminars and workshops at numerous Cal-Nev-Ha District Conventions and Mid-Years, and has served in many committee positions in the district and international.

Over the years, he loved to be part of hands-on service projects, including back-to-school shopping, fundraisers, visits to children's hospitals, the Huntington Beach Easter Egg Hunt, and Christmas caroling in convalescent homes.  Perhaps near the top of his list of favorite Kiwanis moments was his involvement with the reorganization of Keywanettes into KIWIN'S.  He especially enjoyed teaching and mentoring Kiwanis members and SLP.

And he also loved stealing Kiwanis club bells.

Bob was an inspirational speaker, perhaps best known for his PATHFINDER speech and his "Marble" speech.  (How many of you have a marble from one of his speaking engagements?)

Bob served his country through the Michigan National Guard, the Army Air Corps in WWII and the Air Force in the Korean War.  He attained the rank of Master Sergeant. After the military, he started his own printing and publishing company, an industry he stayed with until retirement.

Bob is survived by his wife of 39 years (and past Cal-Nev-Ha First Lady), Nancy Gibbons; his daughter, Past Lt. Gov. Lynn Seeden and her husband, Past Lt. Gov. Curt Seeden; his stepdaughter, Kathryn Rau, and stepson, James Rau;  and his grandchildren Kristal, Nicole, Gregg, Pheobe and Jimmy.

Condolences may be sent to Past First Lady:
