Kiwanis Leaders addressed,
It is with sincere sadness that we inform you of the passing of 1994-1995 District Governor Ted Gibbs. He passed away peacefully this morning, with his wife Karen by his side (also
a Past Lt. Governor and active District leader).
Ted was 87 – and still an active Kiwanian (he was in attendance at the 2017 District Convention in Reno).
Ted joined Kiwanis in July 1973. He has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Green Valley, Henderson since 2013. He served as Lt. Governor in 1979-1980.
The 1994-1995 Board of Trustee originated the Lt. Governor Hall of Fame award, presented annually at the District Convention, in honor of Ted. This award is presented to the Immediate
Past Lt. Governor who most personifies the criteria of Benevolence, Unselfishness,
Integrity, Leadership, Dedication, Enthusiasm, Responsibility and
Spirit – these criteria spell out the word BUILDERS.
Another award established in his honor, and presented annually at the District Convention, is the Ted A. Gibbs Builders Award. This award is presented to the Lt. Governor with the highest
number of personally sponsored new members during the year.
Ted also supported the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation and has a Dunlap and a Tablet of Honor.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Once we have details, we will pass along the information.
Notes of condolence may be sent to Karen Gibbs, 1005 Calico Ridge Dr., Henderson, NV 89011-3078 or via email to
xxxxxx@embarqmail.com.
Please keep Karen and their family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
We lost another gem today – but his smile and character will continue to sparkle. He will be truly missed.
In Kiwanis Service,
