2002-2003 Lt. Governors (bcc’d) and Kiwanis Leaders addressed,

It is with sadness we inform you that 2002-2003 Distinguished Lt. Governor for Division 44, Richard “Dick” Anderson passed away on August 27, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Dick joined Kiwanis in July 1985 in southern California, as part of the Kiwanis Club of Corona. After his retirement, he and his wife Melody moved to northern California and built their own home in the Sierra Foothills and joined the Kiwanis Club of Amador County in 1994. (Melody is also a Kiwanian and is the current and long-time club secretary.) Dick received a Dunlap Fellowship Award during the 2002-2003 Kiwanis year.

Dick and Melody have been married for 32 years and together have 6 kids, 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Dick retired after serving 20 years in the United States Air Force. He also was a county probation officer for 17 years. He had a love for Kiwanis, golf, traveling and community activities. He was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was a commander of the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 108, 12134 Airport Rd., Sutter Creek, CA 95685. Phone: (209) 267-5321. Refreshments and a no-host bar will be available. Melody encourages those in attendance to bring a photo and/or memory to share.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Kiwanis Club of Amador County, P.O. Box 152, Jackson, CA 95642. Donations received will be designated in Dick’s memory for local scholarships.
