I attended a webinar today about retirement plans.  One of the best practices mentioned during the webinar is that the Plan Administrators (Mark and myself) should periodically remind employees to update the beneficiary of their retirement plan to avoid any unintended consequences.

This is your reminder.  The beneficiary designation should be in your employee file.
